THE COASTAL WALK — CAP D’ANTIBES

Just you, the sea, and the path ahead.

There’s a path that wraps around the edge of Cap d’Antibes.

It’s called the Sentier du Littoral — the coastal path.

And if you haven’t walked it yet, it might be the most beautiful couple of hours you’ll spend on the Riviera.

No beach club. No cocktail menu. No reservation needed.

Just rocks, pine trees, the sea — and the kind of silence that makes you realize how loud everything else has been.

This is Riviera life.

Why this walk is different

You can walk along the coast in a lot of places. The Cinque Terre. The Amalfi cliffs. The Basque coast near Biarritz.

They’re all stunning.

But Cap d’Antibes is something else.

It’s not dramatic.

It’s intimate.

The path hugs the shoreline so closely that sometimes the waves nearly reach your feet. You pass tiny hidden coves — some with just enough space for two people and a towel. The water is so clear it looks fake, that impossible turquoise you’ve seen in photos but never quite believed.

And above you, behind the stone walls, are some of the most exclusive villas on the Riviera. You can’t see them, but you know they’re there.

That contrast — wild coastline next to quiet, unseen luxury — is very Riviera.

What happens along the way

The first thing you notice is the sound.

Waves instead of traffic.

Then the smell — pine and salt, mixed together in a way that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

And somewhere around twenty minutes in, something else happens.

Your phone is still in your pocket.

You forgot about it.

The light filters through the trees and lands on the water in patches of gold. You start walking slower — not because you’re tired, but because you don’t want it to end.

There’s a small chapel above the trail — La Chapelle de la Garoupe. If you climb up, the view stretches from Nice to the Estérel mountains. On a very clear day, it feels like you could almost see Corsica.

Then you come back down.

Back to the path.

Back to the sea.

The little Riviera routine (you can copy)

·      Start from Plage de la Garoupe or put in navigation Plage Keller restaurant

·      Wear proper shoes (not sandals — the rocks are uneven)

·      Go in the morning or late afternoon (midday in summer is too hot)

·      Bring water (there’s nothing along the way)

·      Allow about 2 hours if you want to stop, sit, breathe, take it in

And please — don’t rush it.

The Sentier du Littoral isn’t a workout.

It’s a conversation with the coastline.

One you’ll want to have again.

This is Riviera life.
